SPS 3Sixty crushed by cement mixer in Malta

SignPost Solutions knew that they had designed an extremely robust traffic bollard but they had no idea just how tough it was until they got a call from contractors Adam Grima Limited in Malta who had installed an SPS 3Sixty bollard in Naxxar, Malta some months ago.

Adam Grima, Director of Adam Grima Limited noted that ‘a cement mixer hit the pavement and flipped over in Margaret Murray Street, Naxxar crushing the SPS 3Sixty bollard in the process. The driver was trapped inside the vehicle and although emergency services were on the scene very quickly the lorry was not righted for about an hour’ Adam goes on to say,

‘when the truck was lifted, to everyone’s amazement the bollard came back up’.

From the photos you can clearly see that the bollard has been through the wars but it is testament to the design and construction of the bollard that it survived such an impact and was still fit for purpose afterwards.

SPS 3Sixty is fully approved to the required crash test standard BS EN12767 and has proven itself in the UK in many locations and under extreme conditions but none as testing as this impact in Malta.
