Traffic Signs Guarded Day and Night

The removal or theft of road traffic signs whether for their scrap value, vandalism or to avoid parking restrictions is massive problem in the UK and has been for some considerable time.

The material values together with the additional non routine replacement costs are both annoying and potentially hazardous particularly if the stolen signs are sited at vulnerable locations.

Signpost Solutions (Signfix) how now come up with a new product called ‘Signguard’ which will deter opportunist sign theft at very little cost to the maintenance authority.

Signguard utilises a standard Signfix HD clip and enhances its performance by encapsulating a strengthening saddle bracket which straddles the soft and vulnerable aluminium channel. The same ‘Signguard’ fixture holds an anti vandal bolt which together with the saddle bracket produces a very robust fixing device and as tests have shown cannot be removed without a very long and protracted attack (see video of test on Signpost Solutions web site www.signfix.co.uk ).

Signguard was launched at Traffex in 2009 and has already received many plaudits including Paul Cook at Rotherham MBC who commented “Signguard is being used on the Centenary Way scheme which is very high profile and is a notable area for theft and vandalism”.

Paul went on “A device such as Signguard is definitely a step in the right direction in not only reducing the cost to local authorities but also safeguarding the motoring public by keeping the signs where they should be and in condition that everyone expects”.

Car parks in London Borough of Redbridge, London Borough of Hackney, Cambridge and Hinckley, Leicestershire have also utilised ‘Signguard’ to maintain the integrity of the parking restrictions following regular and long standing attack. To date these initial trials at vulnerable locations have worked exactly as designed with the problem eliminated.
